Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the HVAC module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
  2. Remove the LH temperature valve electric actuator. Refer to Temperature Actuator Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  3. Remove the RH temperature valve electric actuator, if equipped with CJ3. Refer to Temperature Actuator Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual .

  4. Object Number: 606987  Size: SH
  5. Remove the air inlet housing retaining screws (1).
  6. Remove the air inlet housing (2).
  7. Remove the HVAC module upper mounting screws.

  9. Release the retaining tab (1) and separate the upper and lower module halves.

  10. Object Number: 296249  Size: SH
  11. Remove the HVAC module seal that is located between the upper and lower cases.
  12. Start to remove the module case seal (blower motor side of case) seal (2) from the lower module case at the position shown (1).

  13. Remove the temperature valve, if equipped with C60.

    Important: The LH and RH temperature valves separate in the center.

  15. Remove the temperature valves (1,2), if equipped with CJ3.
  16. Carefully pull the temperature valves apart in the center to remove the temperature valves from the HVAC module case.

Installation Procedure

    Important: The LH and RH temperature valves pivot in the center.

  1. Install the temperature valves (1,2), if equipped with CJ3.
  2. Carefully align the temperature valves into the HVAC module case.

  3. Install the temperature valve, if equipped with C60.

  4. Object Number: 296253  Size: SH
  5. Install the new case seal (2) into the HVAC module case (1).

  6. Object Number: 295357  Size: SH
  7. Align and install the upper module case to the lower module case.
  8. Align and secure the retaining tab (1) on the upper module case to the retaining slot on the lower module case.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Install the HVAC module upper mounting screws.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the HVAC module upper mounting screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  11. Install the air inlet housing (2).
  12. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener.   13. Install the air inlet housing retaining screws (1).
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the air inlet housing screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  15. Install the LH temperature valve electric actuator. Refer to Temperature Actuator Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  16. Install the RH temperature valve electric actuator, if equipped with CJ3. Refer to Temperature Actuator Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  17. Install the HVAC module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
