Heater Inlet Pipe Adapter Replacement 3.8L

Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  2. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.

  3. Object Number: 415893  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the heater inlet hose from the pipe adapter.
  5. UseJ 38185 in order to position aside the heater hose clamp.

  6. Object Number: 415895  Size: SH
  7. Remove the pipe adapter mounting bolt.
  8. Remove the pipe adapter.

Installation Procedure

  1. Lubricate the O-ring.

  2. Object Number: 415895  Size: SH
  3. Install the pipe adapter.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the heater inlet pipe adapter mounting bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the heater inlet pipe adapter bolt to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  7. Connect the inlet hose to the pipe adapter.
  8. UseJ 38185 in order to secure the heater core hose clamp.
  9. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
  10. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
