  1. Drain the windshield fluid.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the instrument cluster (IPC) display the LOW WASHER FLUID message?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the windshield washer solvent level switch.
  3. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit of the windshield washer solvent level switch and a good ground.
  4. Install a scan tool.
  5. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  6. With a scan tool, observe the Washer Fluid Level parameter in the Instrument Panel Cluster data list.

Does the scan tool display LOW?

Test the signal circuit of the windshield washer solvent level switch for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the windshield washer solvent level switch for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the windshield washer solvent level switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the IPC. Refer to Circuit Testing and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
