Circuit Description

The internal fault detection is handled by the driver information center (DIC).

Conditions for Running the DTC

The DIC monitors the analog input value once every ignition cycle at power up.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The DIC does not detect the compass sensor. This may be due to a faulty sensor or a remote sensor (sunroof only) that is not connected to the DIC.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The DTC will be set and stored in non-volatile memory.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The DTC will become history when the DIC no longer detects a failure.
    • The history DTC will clear after 100 fault free ignition cycles.
    • You may clear the DTC with a scan tool.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the compass. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the DIC. Refer to Driver Information Center Replacement .

  1. Calibrate the compass. Refer to Electronic Compass Calibration .
  2. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  3. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text.
