Door Adjustment Rear

Up/Down or In/Out Adjustment


    Object Number: 605880  Size: SH
  1. Open the front door to access the rear door hinge bolts.
  2. Important: Do not remove the rear door hinge bolts.

  3. Loosen the rear door side hinge bolts.
  4. Pry off the washer from the lower bolt on the lower hinge.
  5. Adjust the rear door up or down and in and out as required.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Tighten the door side hinge bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the rear door hinge to door bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

Door Adjustment Front

Up/Down or In/Out Adjustment

  1. Open the font door to access the front door hinge bolts.
  2. Important: Do not remove the front door hinge bolts.

  3. Loosen the front door side hinge bolts.

  4. Object Number: 605893  Size: SH
  5. Pry off the washer from the lower bolt on the lower hinge (Impala only).

  6. Object Number: 294482  Size: SH
  7. Adjust the front door up or down and in and out as required.
  8. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   10. Tighten
    Tighten the front door hinge to door bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

Fore/Aft Adjustment

    Important: Do not remove the bolts.

  1. Loosen the body side hinge bolts (1).
  2. Important: Do not remove the cone adjuster bolt.

  3. Loosen the body side hinge cone adjuster bolt (3) (Monte Carlo Lower Hinge Only).
  4. Important: Do not remove the TORX® bolt (2).

  5. Loosen the TORX® body side hinge bolt (Monte Carlo Lower Hinge Only).
  6. Adjust the door fore and aft as required.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Tighten the TORX® body side hinge bolt (2) (Monte Carlo Lower Hinge Only).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the TORX® body side hinge bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  10. Tighten the cone adjuster side hinge bolt (3) (Monte Carlo Lower Hinge Only).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the cone adjuster side hinge bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  12. Tighten the body side hinge bolts (1).
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the door hinge to body bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).
