Assist Handle Replacement ImpalaFront

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 384877  Size: SH
  1. Remove the plastic cover with a small, flat-bladed tool in order to expose the screws.
  2. Pull down on the assist strap to expose the screws.
  3. Remove the assist strap screws (1).
  4. Remove the assist strap from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 384877  Size: SH
  1. Install the assist strap to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the assist strap screws (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the assist strap screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Install the plastic cover pressing into place until fully seated.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the plastic cover with a small, flat-bladed tool in order to expose the screws.
  2. Pull down on the assist strap to expose the screws.
  3. Remove the assist strap screws (2).
  4. Remove the side rail lamp if equipped. Refer to Roof Side Rail Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  5. Remove the assist strap from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the assist strap to the vehicle.
  2. Install the side rail lamp if equipped. Refer to Roof Side Rail Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.
