Without Keyless Entry

The rear compartment lid lock release solenoid is charged when the following conditions exist:

    • The vehicle is in PARK.
    • The rear compartment lid release switch is activated.

When the rear compartment lid release input circuit is applied to the BCM, the BCM applied the circuit to the rear compartment lid release actuator releasing the rear compartment.

If the vehicle is in a position other than PARK, the rear compartment lid lock release solenoid is inactive. The rear compartment lid cannot be released.

Important: On the Chevy Impala Police Vehicles Only (9C1) the rear compartment lid release is powered through the BCM with the ignition on. The lid release will not open with ignition off.

With Keyless Entry

When the BCM receives the remote control door lock receiver input, the BCM activates the rear compartment lid release circuit releasing the rear compartment.

The BCM will open the rear compartment only if the following conditions exist:

    • The vehicle is in PARK.
    • The REAR COMPARTMENT button on the RKE transmitter is pressed.

If the vehicle is in a position other than PARK, the rear compartment lid lock release solenoid is inactive. The rear compartment lid cannot be released.
