Removal Procedure

Notice: Cap the fittings and plug the holes when servicing the fuel system in order to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the open pipes and passages.

Important: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing fuel system components.

  1. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .
  2. Remove the fuel filler cap.

  3. Object Number: 186665  Size: SH
  4. Remove the fuel filler pipe screws from the fuel filler pocket.

  5. Object Number: 186674  Size: SH
  6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  7. Loosen the fuel filler hose clamp (1) at the fuel filler pipe (2).

  9. Remove the fuel filler pipe screw from the under body.
  10. Remove the fuel filler pipe from the fuel tank hose and the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fuel filler pipe to the fuel tank hose.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the fuel filler pipe screw to the under body.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Inspect and ensure the fuel tank hose (4) is fully seated between the beads (5,3) on the fuel filler pipe (2).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the clamp to 2.5N·m (22 lb in).

  7. Lower the vehicle.

  9. Install the fuel filler pipe screws to the fuel filler pocket.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  11. Add fuel and install the fuel fill cap.
  12. Inspect for fuel leaks.
