Rocker Panel Molding Replacement Impala
Removal Procedure
- Remove the screws from
the front and rear of the rocker molding.
Important: The upper retainer clips will break upon removal and must be replaced.
- Remove the top edge of
the rocker molding by pulling off.
- Release the retainers
from the lower rocker molding using a small flat-bladed tool inserted between
the rocker molding and the retainer.
Important: The rocker molding retainers will remain in the rocker panel.
- Remove the rocker molding
from the rocker panel.
- Remove the rocker molding retainers by turning 90 degrees
and pulling out.
Installation Procedure
- Install new retainers
to the upper edge of the rocker molding.
- Position the rocker molding to the holes in the rocker panel.
- Install the rocker molding starting from the front of the vehicle,
pushing in the upper retainers into the rocker panel.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the screws to
the front and rear of the rocker panel molding.
Tighten
Tighten the rocker panel molding screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the retainers
to the lower rocker molding, pressing into place until fully seated.

Removal Procedure
- Remove the screws from
the front and rear of the rocker molding.
- Drill out the plastic rivit from the front of the rocker panel
molding.
Important: The upper retainer clips will break upon removal and must be replaced.
- Remove the top edge of the rocker molding by pulling off.
- Release the retainers
from the lower rocker molding using a small flat-bladed tool inserted between
the rocker molding and the retainer.
