Removal Procedure
- Open the hood.
- Remove the upper radiator air baffle. Refer to
Radiator Air Upper Baffle and Deflector Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the support bracket from the front upper fascia. Refer
to
Front Upper Fascia Support Bracket Replacement
in Bumpers.
- With a grease pencil, mark the position of the hood latch to the
center support bracket .
- Remove the bolts from the hood latch.
Important: Do not crimp the hood release cable.
- Remove the hood release cable from the hood latch by squeezing the cable
retainer.
- Remove the hood latch from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the hood release cable to the
hood latch.
- Align the hood latch to the marks on the center support bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts that secure the hood latch to the center support.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the support bracket to the front upper fascia. Refer to
Front Upper Fascia Support Bracket Replacement
in Bumpers.
- Install the upper radiator air baffle. Refer to
Radiator Air Upper Baffle and Deflector Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Adjust the hood, if required. Refer to
Hood Adjustment
.
- Close the hood.
