Did you perform the Door Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Verify that the power door locks inoperative fault is present.

Does the power door locks system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the door unlock switch parameter in the Body Control Module data list.
  4. Activate the driver door lock switch to the UNLOCK position.
  5. Activate the front passenger door lock switch to the UNLOCK position.

Does the scan tool display Active for both switches?

Go to Step 5

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the appropriate door lock switch.
  3. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the door unlock switch parameter in the Body Control Module data list.
  5. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the driver door lock switch unlock signal circuit of the appropriate door lock switch harness connector and the ground signal of the appropriate door lock switch harness connector.

Does the scan tool display Active?

Are all of the door locks inoperative?

Is the driver door lock the inoperative lock?

Test the ground circuit of the appropriate door lock switch for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the door lock actuator lock control circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the driver door lock actuator unlock control circuit of the driver door lock for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the door lock actuator unlock control circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the driver door lock switch unlock signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the appropriate door lock switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the appropriate door lock switch. Refer to Door Lock Switch Replacement .

  1. Perform the setup procedure for the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control Systems.
  2. Replace the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control Systems.

Replace the appropriate door lock actuator. Refer to Front Side Door Lock Actuator Replacement or Rear Side Door Lock Actuator Replacement .
