Removal Procedure
- Open the rear compartment.
- Apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent
paint damage.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the right quarter panel.
- Remove the wiring harness grommet from the right quarter panel,
using a small, flat-bladed tool.
- Remove the wiring harness from the quarter panel.
- Disconnect the electrical
connector from the rear compartment lid lamps and the flasher fuse (1),
if equipped.
- With a grease pencil,
mark the hinge which secures the rear compartment lid to the upper rear compartment.
- Remove the nuts from the rear compartment hinges, with an assistant.
- Remove the rear compartment lid from the vehicle, with an assistant.
Installation Procedure
- Position the rear compartment
lid to the hinges at the alignment marks, with an assistant.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the nuts
to the rear compartment hinges, with an assistant.
Tighten
Tighten the rear compartment lid hinge nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the wiring harness
to the quarter panel.
- Install the wiring harness grommet to the right quarter panel,
using a small, flat-bladed tool.
- Connect the electrical connector to the right quarter panel.
- Connect the electrical
connector to the rear compartment lid lamps and the flasher fuse (1),
if equipped.
- Remove the protective coverings.
- Close the rear compartment.
