It has been determined that some technicians are replacing the Input and Third Pawl clutch for a clicking noise when servicing the transmission. It is a normal characteristic of a clicking type noise when hand rotating the Input and third pawl clutch# 727, 728 in SI Document ID number 898954. This Input and Third Pawl clutch cannot be disassembled as it has pins that are peened to the race. When diagnosing this pawl clutch on the bench, as the inner race is rotated, you will hear an audible clicking noise. Do not replace the Input and Third Pawl clutch for a click noise, as the noise is not audible when the part is installed in the transmission.
