Subject: | Unable to Program New BCM on Chevrolet Impala or Monte Carlo |
Models: | . |
When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
Unable to correctly program a replacement BCM using Tech 2 software version 24.003.
When programming a replacement BCM, the technician may find that the "Set Options" menu is missing from the Tech 2 portion of the BCM programming procedure. If the technician skips this step and completes the other steps of BCM programming, the RKE system may also become inoperative. Temporarily download Tech 2 software version 24.001 into the scan tool. Reprogram the BCM with this software. It may be necessary to attempt to program the BCM several times before the programming is successful. If the BCM becomes "secured" before the programming is successful, it will be necessary to replace the BCM again and program it using Tech 2 version 24.001. This Tech 2 software concern should be corrected with the next Tech 2 software update.
