Subject:IPC Intermittent "wow" every 20-40 seconds

Models:2002-2005 Chevrolet Impala, Monte Carlo

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Instrument Cluster will "wow" (go into bulb check mode) every 20-40 seconds on Impala LS or Monte Carlo

Recommendation/Instructions:

It has been determined that there is an internal concern with the VCIM that may cause this issue. Should this occur the VCIM needs to be replaced.

If the vehicle is still under factory warranty and has a GEN6 VCIM, contact the OnStar® team at GMTAC to order a replacement VCIM. For all out of warranty vehicles, the dealer should order the VCIM from Autocraft electronics (www.autocraft.com) in the US or from Masscomp (877-410-6277) in Canada. Vehicles with GEN4 or GEN5 VCIM should refer to corporate bulletin 05-08-46-006N for the ADT upgrade information.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
