Removal Procedure
Important: When replacing battery cables be sure to use replacement cables that are the
same type, gage and length.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
- Disconnect the positive battery cable.
- Remove the ground wire bolt and the ground wire from the frame.
- Remove the remote positive stud cover
- Remove the positive cable junction block
lead nut (1).
- Remove the positive battery cable (2) from the underhood accessory
wiring junction block.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the front lower air deflector. Refer to
Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the transaxle stud nut and the ground wire from the transaxle stud.
- Remove
the positive battery cable nut (8) from the starter motor BAT terminal.
- Remove the positive battery cable (9) from the starter motor BAT
terminal.
- Unclip and remove the battery cable harness from the retainers (2,3,4).
- Remove the battery cable harness from the vehicle.
- Remove the negative battery cable from the wiring harness conduit.
Installation Procedure
- Install the negative battery cable into the wiring harness conduit.
- Install the battery cable harness to the retainers (2,3,4).
- Install
the positive battery cable (9) to the starter motor BAT terminal.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the positive battery cable nut (8) to the starter motor BAT terminal.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the ground wire and the transaxle stud nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
- Install the front lower air deflector. Refer to
Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the positive battery cable (2)
to the underhood accessory wiring junction block.
- Install the positive cable junction block lead nut (1).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the remote positive stud cover.
- Install the ground wire and
the bolt to the frame.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect the positive battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the terminal bolt to 15 N·m (11 ft lb).
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
