Service VME - Elimination of Trunk Lid Assist Handle - kw body interior part rear trim

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Changes in the trunk lid hinge and strut design has resulted in improvements in trunk lid efforts over the past several years. As a result, the trunk lid assist handle was eliminated for the 2004 MY and beyond. This change was effective with vehicles built in November of 2003. The owners manual does not reflect the elimination of this assist strap for the 2004 MY, but will be eliminated in the 2005 owners manuals. Warranty claims have been submitted for missing straps on vehicles built after this November breakpoint. The elimination of the assist strap was intentional and warranty claims should not be submitted for presumed missing assist straps.
