Water Pump Replacement LS4

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1411892  Size: SH
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  2. Remove the battery and battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement.
  3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory.
  4. Remove the water pump bolts (318).
  5. Remove the water pump (300) and gasket (314). Discard the gasket.
  6. Clean and inspect the water pump gasket mating surfaces.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1411892  Size: SH
  1. Install the water pump (300) and a NEW gasket (314).
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Tighten the water pump bolts (318).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 15 (11 lb ft).

  5. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory.
  6. Install the battery tray and battery. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement.
  7. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.

Water Pump Replacement RPOs LZE, LZ4, LZ8

Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  2. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
  3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement or Drive Belt Replacement.
  4. Remove the water pump pulley bolts and pulley.

  5. Object Number: 1557689  Size: SH
  6. Remove the water pump bolts.
  7. Remove the water pump and gasket.
  8. Clean the water pump mating surfaces.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1557689  Size: SH
  1. Position a NEW water pump gasket and the water pump to the engine front cover.
  2. Install the water pump bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  4. Install the water pump pulley and bolts.
  5. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement or Drive Belt Replacement.
  6. Tighten the water pump pulley bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  9. Inspect for leaks.
