CH-0002 Half Axle Puller
Note: With consideration to the maintenance and durability of the front wheel hub bearing, the hub and the bearing are designed as a whole, so that no maintenance and no extra lubricating grease is needed by the bearing. When there is
any problem with the bearing, replace the wheel hub and the bearing simultaneously, and do not remove and repair the bearing alone.
Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the front wheel.
- Remove the front wheel hub inner cap. Use a screwdriver to tap three positions around the front wheel hub inner cap. Take care not to damage the edge of the inner cap.
Note: A removed locknut is not allowed to be reused.
- First beat away the lock nut locator, and then loosen and remove the lock nut.
Note: Do not pull out the brake hose on the brake caliper.
- Loosen the two bolts retaining the brake caliper assembly, and use an iron hook to lift up the brake caliper in order to prevent the brake pipe from being pulled out.
- Screw the two M8 bolts into the M8 bolt holes on the rotor, then jack up the rotor and remove it.
- Use the special tool CH-0002 to remove the wheel hub.
Installation Procedure
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the front wheel hub assembly to the steering knuckle subassembly, and use a new lock nut to tighten it to the specified torque.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel hub lock nut to 185-225 N·m.
- Install the rotor.
- Install the brake caliper assembly, and tighten the bolts connecting the brake caliper to the steering knuckle to the specified torque.
Tighten
Tighten the steering knuckle to the brake caliper bolts to 75-95 N·m.
- Knock the lock nut at the position opposite to the steering knuckle axle pin notch into the groove so as to lock it up. Take care
not to cause cracks to the notch position of the lock nut.
- Install the front wheel hub inner cap.
- Install the front wheel and lower the vehicle.
