Circuit/System Description
The Speed Dependent Volume test is performed using the scan tool, and allows
the input of simulated road speed to verify the correct operation of the speed dependent
volume function.
Diagnostic Aids
• | This diagnostic is for the infotainment unit feature speed dependent volume. |
• | Before diagnosis of the speed dependent volume feature, make sure the
primary controls of the associated components are functioning properly. |

Component Testing
Important: It is recommended that component testing
is performed before circuit testing when diagnosing infotainment unit functions.
- Infotainment unit ON, enter the Options menu by pressing the Volume Control
Dial.
- Turn the Volume Control Dial clockwise to highlight 'AUD SETUP'.
- Press the Volume Control Dial to access the audio setup menu.
- Turn the Volume Control Dial clockwise to highlight 'SD VOLUME'.
- Press the Volume Control Dial to access the SDV setting.
- Turn the Volume Control Dial clockwise to anti-clockwise to alter the
SDV setting.
- Press the Volume Control Dial to exit and store the setting.
- To exit the menu, select the 'BACK' option or wait 8 seconds.
- Select a strong local radio station frequency and set the volume to a
comfortable listening level.
- Connect the scan tool to the DLC.
- On the scan tool select

System / Actuator Test / System / Vehicle Speed
.
- Press the Increase soft key on the scan tool to simulate an increase in
road speed. Listen for an increase in volume.
- Press the Decrease soft key on the scan tool and listen for the return
to normal volume.
- Press the Quit soft key to exit the test. The speed dependent volume will
be set to the standard setting (2) on exiting the test.
