Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1290874 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  3. Disconnect the electrical switch connectors.

    4. Object Number: 1290875 Size: SH
  4. Remove the pinch nut from the shift control cable adjuster.
  5. Remove the cable from the bracket.

    6. Object Number: 1290876 Size: SH
  6. Remove the bolts and the nuts holding the shift control assembly to the floor panel.
  7. Remove the shift control assembly.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1290876 Size: SH
  1. Install the shift control assembly.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the bolts and the nuts holding the shift control assembly to the floor panel.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts and the nuts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  3. Install the shift control cable onto the bracket.
  4. Install the adjuster pinch nut to the cable.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the pinch nut to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  5. Connect the electrical switch connectors.
  6. Install the floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
