Disabling Procedure
Important: Refer to
SIR Service Precautions
.
- Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Remove the key from the ignition switch.
- Remove the fuse box cover.
Important: With the F1 fuse removed and the ignition
ON , the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate
an SIR system malfunction.
- Remove the F1 fuse.
- Remove the connector position assurance
(CPA) from the side impact module - RF connector (1) located under the
passenger seat.
- Disconnect the side air impact module - RF connector (1).
Enabling Procedure
- Connect the inflatable restraint side impact
module - RF connector (1) located under the passenger seat.
- Install the CPA to the side impact module - RF connector (1).
- Remove the F1 Fuse.
- Install the fuse box cover.
- Staying well away from all inflator modules and pretensioners, turn ON
the ignition.
• | The AIR BAG indicator will flash 7 times. |
• | The AIR BAG indicator will then turn OFF. |
- Perform the Diagnostic System Check - SIR if the AIR BAG warning
indicator does not operate as described. Refer to
Diagnostic System Check - SIR
