Subject: | New Product Information for Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) |
Models: | 2005 Chevrolet Epica, Optra |
Attention: | "US" and "IPC" dealers are not authorized to utilize this service bulletin. This service bulletin is applicable to "GM of Canada" dealers/retailers only. |
This bulletin is intended to explain several new features of these vehicles that must be reviewed during the pre-delivery inspection process.
All Chevrolet Optras are shipped with three 15 amp fuses shipped loose in the vehicle’s ashtray. These are the "auto A/C", "radio" and "RKE" fuses located in the left side fuse panel. Upon delivery of the vehicle to customers, these fuses must be installed for proper operation of the vehicle. The fuse panel cover must also be installed and is located in the left side door map pocket.
All Chevrolet Epicas are shipped with two underhood fuses loose shipped in the engine compartment fuse box. These fuses are the 25 amp "I/P FUSE BATT" and the 15 amp "INT LTS". Upon delivery of the vehicle to customers, these fuses must be installed for proper operation of the vehicle.
If the vehicle will sit for extended periods, these fuses should be removed since they draw a parasitic load from the battery.
The wheel covers (Optra only) and floor mats are shipped in the trunk. The front mat hold down tabs are already installed in the floor on the Optra. Floor mat hold down tab installation instructions for the Epica are included with the mats. Floor mat instructions are also included with the mats. The license plate screws and Owner’s Manual are located inside the glove box.
The vehicle’s tires are shipped with 40 psi (276 kPa) and the pressure must be reduced to 30 psi (207 kPa) on the Optra and 28 psi (200 kPa) on the Epica. The tire pressure label can be found at the bottom of the driver’s B-pillar (Epica, Optra wagon) and inside the glovebox door (Optra sedan and five-door models).
Press the brake to shift from park "P". The shifter uses the shifter’s knob as the release mechanism and there is no other separate button that has to be pushed to release the shifter. To shift the transmission from neutral "N" or reverse "R", you must push down on the shifter knob then move the lever to the desired position.
The Optra and Epica uses blue silicate/hybrid coolant. When the cooling system either needs to be topped off or flushed, GM recommends the use of green silicate coolant (conventional), P/N 993088 1 L or P/N 993089 4 L.
Important: The use of conventional power steering fluid in the system may lead to leaks.
Use a DEXRON® III fluid, P/N 10952621 (500 ml) or P/N 10952622 (1 L). Check the fluid level and adjust as necessary.
Important: Please do not use DEXRON® III or Type IV fluid in these transmissions. Also, pay attention when topping off all fluids. Look at the reservoir cap, not just the fluid color.
The automatic transmission uses P/N 89021903 (1 L) or Esso LT 71141 or Total ATF H50235.
To operate cruise control, toggle on-off to "on" then hold "set" for at least 1.2 seconds. This will then engage cruise at the desired speed and will then illuminate the cruise control light. To resume from a very slow speed to a high set speed, it will be easier to perform the cruise "set" function by accelerating the vehicle to the desired speed rather than using the cruise "resume-accel".
Both the cigarette lighter and accessory power outlet only operate when the ignition is turned to the "ACC" and "On" positions.
