Condition
Some customers may comment on a rattle or knocking noise coming from the power steering when driving over rough or uneven surfaces.
Cause
This condition may be caused by a hydraulic rattle that is the result of short duration pressure change in the power steering return pipe.
Correction
Replace the power steering return pipe with a new power steering return pipe with a damping hose, P/N 96473776. This new pipe will reduce the noise. Refer to Power Steering Pump Hoses and Pipes Replacement in SI and follow the steps for replacing only the power steering return line.
