Models:2004-2006 Chevrolet Aveo, Optra
2005-2006 Pontiac Wave (Canada Only)



Condition

Some customers may comment that security system does not arm with the remote transmitter.

Cause

This condition may be caused by corrosion of the electrical contacts inside the hood contact switch connector on the front wiring harness.

Correction

Replace the hood contact switch and hood contact switch connector terminals attached to the front wiring harness using the following procedure:


    Object Number: 1838186  Size: SH
  1. Remove the hood contact switch
  2. Disconnect the hood contact switch from the hood contact switch connector on the front wiring harness. Discard the old switch.

  3. Object Number: 1838197  Size: SH

    Notice: Be careful not to damage the hood contact switch connector when opening.

  4. Gently open the connector and carefully remove the two terminals from the white connector body.
  5. Replace the existing terminals with new Yazaki 7116-1473 terminals from Tray 10 of the J 38125-C Terminal Repair Kit. Refer to Repairing Connector Terminals in SI.
  6. Reassemble the connector.
  7. Connect the new hood contact switch to the hood contact switch connector on the front wiring harness. Apply electrical tape to protect this connection.
  8. Install the new hood contact switch.
  9. Verify the repair. Operate the remote keyless entry function by pressing the lock/unlock button(s).
