Subject: | Transmission Fluid Leaks from Cooler Pipe Fitting on Radiator (Inspect and Replace Transaxle Cooler Pipes and/or Radiator Assembly As Needed) |
Models: | 2004-2006 Chevrolet Epica, Optra (Canada Only) |
Some customers may comment that transmission fluid leaks from the transmission fluid cooler pipe fitting on the radiator.
This condition may be caused by one or more of the following:
• | Corroded washers (1) on transmission fluid cooler pipe fittings. (A clean (non-corroded) transmission fluid cooler contact surface (2) is also shown above.) |
• | Corroded contact surface (3) on the transmission fluid cooler on the radiator assembly. |
• | If only a corroded washer is found, replace only the transmission fluid cooler pipes (inlet and outlet). Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement in SI. |
• | If corrosion is also found on the radiator assembly itself, replace radiator assembly as well as transmission fluid cooler pipes (inlet and outlet). Refer to Radiator Replacement (2.5L) or Radiator Replacement (2.0L) in SI. |
Important: DO NOT use DEXRON® III or Type IV fluid in these transmissions. The automatic transmission uses P/N 89021903 (1 L) or Esso LT 71141 or Total ATF H50235.
