Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  3. Recover the refrigerant.
  4. Remove the heater/air distributor case assembly. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
  5. Remove the wiring harness and electrical connectors from the heater/air distributor case assembly.
  6. Remove the screws that connect the heater core housing and the evaporator housing.

  8. Separate the sponge from heater/air distributor case assembly.

  9. Object Number: 1308304  Size: SH
  10. Remove the heater core cover screws from the heater core housing.
  11. Remove the heater core.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1308322  Size: SH
  1. Install the heater core into the case.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the screws on the heater core housing.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the heater core cover screws to 1.2 N·m (11 lb in).

  5. Install the sponge onto the heater/air distributor case assembly.

  6. Object Number: 1308326  Size: SH
  7. Install the screws that connect the heater core housing and the evaporator housing.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.2 N·m (11 lb in).

  9. Connect the wiring harness and electrical connectors.
  10. Install the heater/air distributor case assembly. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
  11. Install the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  12. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  13. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  14. Connect the negative battery cable.
