Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1290036  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Important: Caliper removal is not necessary to service the brake pads.

  4. Remove the lower caliper guide pin bolt.

  5. Object Number: 1290039  Size: SH
  6. Pivot the caliper upward.
  7. Remove the brake pads.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1290039  Size: SH
  1. Measure the minimum brake pad thickness. Refer to Brake Pad Inspection .
  2. Install the brake pads into the caliper.
  3. Push the piston inward, if necessary.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1290036  Size: SH

    Important: Avoid damaging the piston seal while pivoting the caliper housing downward.

  5. Pivot the caliper housing downward and install the bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the lower caliper mounting bolt to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  7. Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  8. Lower the vehicle.
