Removal Procedure
- Release the park brake.
- Remove the park brake/gearshift console hood. Refer to
Front Floor Console Replacement
.
- Measure the thread length from the end of the pull rod to the hex nut.
- Remove the hex nut.
Important: Replace the park brake switch if the BRAKE warning indicator did not illuminate with the park brake applied and with the ignition switch in the ON position.
- Remove the screw and the park brake warning lamp switch.
- Remove the park brake lever assembly-to-vehicle underbody bolts.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Important: If the park brake lever is bent or damaged, replace the complete park brake lever assembly, which includes a new park brake switch.
- Install the park brake switch to the park brake lever assembly with the screw.
Tighten
Tighten the park brake switch-to-park brake lever screw to 4 N·m (35 lb in).
- Install the park brake lever bolts, and fasten the park brake lever assembly to the vehicle underbody.
Tighten
Tighten the park brake lever assembly-to-vehicle underbody bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
- Install the hex nut on the end of the pull rod to the same position as noted in the removal procedure.
- Adjust the park brake. Refer to

- Install the park brake/gearshift console hood. Refer to
Front Floor Console Replacement
