Subject: | New Product Information for Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) |
Models: | 2008 Chevrolet Optra (Canada Only) |
The purpose of this bulletin is to inform dealers of new features on the 2008 Chevrolet Optra that must be reviewed during the pre-delivery inspection process.
All 2008 Chevrolet Optras are shipped with three fuses shipped loose. These are the F15, F22 and F23 fuses located in the left side fuse panel. These fuses will be found in the ashtray. Take care to remove all fuses from the ashtray. Upon delivery of the vehicle to customers, these fuses must be installed for proper operation of the vehicle. The fuse panel cover must also be installed and is located in the left side door map pocket. Take care not to damage the ribs on the fuse cover when installing these fuses.
If the vehicle will sit for extended periods, these fuses should be removed to prevent accessories from placing a parasitic load on the battery.
The wheel covers and floor mats are shipped in the trunk. The front mat hold down tabs are already installed in the floor on the Optra. Floor mat instructions are also included with the mats. The license plate screws and Owner Manual are located inside the glove box.
The vehicle’s tires are shipped with 45 psi (310 kPa) and the pressure must be reduced to 330 psi (227 kPa), prior to delivery to customers. The tire pressures should be checked when the tires are cold. The tire pressure label can be found inside the glove box door.
Press the brake to shift from park "P". The shifter uses the shifter’s knob as the release mechanism and there is no other separate button that has to be pushed to release the shifter. To shift the transmission from neutral "N" or reverse "R", you must push down on the shifter knob then move the lever to the desired position.
The 2008 Chevrolet Optra uses orange DEX-COOL® coolant. When the cooling system either needs to be topped off or flushed, DEX-COOL® coolant must be used. Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 00-06-02-006D for additional information regarding DEX-COOL®. Do NOT mix with the conventional green silicate coolant.
Notice: When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, always use the proper power steering fluid. Failure to use the proper fluid will cause hose and seal damage and fluid leaks.
Use a DEXRON® VI fluid, P/N 88861003 (1 qt) or in Canada, P/N 88861004 (1 L). Check the fluid level and adjust as necessary.
Notice: Do NOT use DEXRON® III or DEXRON® VI fluid in this transmission. Use of any transmission fluid other than the recommended fluid may cause transmission/transaxle damage. Verify that the correct type of transmission fluid is being used by checking the reservoir cap.
The automatic transmission uses T-IV automatic transmission fluid, P/N 88900925 (1 qt) or in Canada, P/N 22689186 (1 L).
To operate cruise control, toggle on-off switch to "ON" then hold "SET" for at least 1.2 seconds. This will then engage cruise at the desired speed and will then illuminate the cruise control light. To resume from a very slow speed to a high set speed, it will be easier to perform the cruise "SET" function by accelerating the vehicle to the desired speed rather than using the cruise "RESUME-ACCEL."
Both the cigarette lighter and accessory power outlet only operate when the ignition is turned to the "ACC" and "ON" positions.
