Disconnect the fuel pump connector .

Did the Low Fuel Indicator turn off?

Using a multimeter, test for a short to ground between terminal 5 of the fuel pump connector and terminal B14 of the instrument cluster. Refer to Testing for Short to Ground .

Is ground present?

Go to Step 4

Repair the short to ground in the signal circuit between terminal 5 of the fuel pump connector and terminal B14 of the instrument cluster.

Did you find and complete the repair?

Go to Step 7

Replace the Fuel Pump assembly. Refer to Fuel Pump Replacement for the 1.4L engine, Fuel Pump Replacement for the 1.8L engine, or Fuel Pump Replacement for the 2.0L engine.

Replace the instrument cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
