Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1308543  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  3. Remove the sun sensor. Refer to Sun Load Sensor Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic.
  4. Remove the stereo cassette AM/FM radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  5. Remove the center molding.
  6. Remove the instrument cluster dimmer switch assembly.
  7. Remove the instrument cluster trim panel. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement .
  8. Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  9. Remove the glove box and the glove box housing. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement .
  10. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .

  12. Remove the screws and the instrument panel (I/P) side covers.
  13. Remove the screw and the I/P fuse block.

  14. Object Number: 1308581  Size: SH
  15. Remove the nuts and the bolts securing the steering column.
  16. Disconnect the steering column electrical connector.
  17. Lower the steering column.

  19. Remove bolts and screws.
  20. Remove the connecting pieces.

  21. Object Number: 1308583  Size: SH
  22. Remove the bolt securing the middle of the I/P to the body.

  23. Object Number: 1308584  Size: SH
  24. Remove the I/P screws behind the glove box brace.

  25. Object Number: 1308585  Size: SH
  26. Remove the bolts securing the sides of the I/P to the body.
  27. Disconnect the I/P electrical connectors.
  28. Remove the I/P.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1308585  Size: SH
  1. Position the I/P in the vehicle.
  2. Connect the I/P electrical connectors.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the bolts securing the sides of the I/P to the body.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the I/P-to-body bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  6. Install the I/P screws behind the glove box brace.

  7. Object Number: 1308583  Size: SH
  8. Install the bolt securing the middle of the I/P to the body.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the I/P-to-body bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  10. Install the connecting pieces with bolts and screws.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the connecting pieces bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  12. Raise the steering column.
  13. Connect the steering column electrical connector.
  14. Install the nuts and the bolts securing the steering column.
  15. Tighten

    • Tighten the steering column nuts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
    • Tighten the steering column bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  16. Install the I/P fuse block with the screw.
  17. Install the I/P side covers with the screws.

  19. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  20. Install the glove box and the glove box housing. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement .
  21. Install the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  22. Install the instrument cluster trim panel. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement .
  23. Install the instrument cluster dimmer switch assembly.
  24. Install the stereo cassette AM/FM radio. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  25. Install the center molding.
  26. Install the sun sensor. Refer to Sun Load Sensor Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic.
  27. Install the floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  28. Connect the negative battery cable.
