    • DW 260-010 Auto Transaxle Support Fixture

Removal Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1245852  Size: SH
  1. Remove the battery and battery tray.
  2. Drain the transaxle fluid. Refer to Transmission Fluid Draining .
  3. Remove the left and right drive axle assemblies. Refer to Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft Replacement .
  4. Disconnect the fluid cooler inlet and outlet hoses from the transaxle.

  6. Disconnect the shift control cable from the transaxle. Refer to Floor Shift Control Cable Replacement .
  7. Install the J 28467-B  (1) to support the engine.

  9. Disconnect the input shaft speed (ISS) sensor electrical connector.
  10. Disconnect the output shaft speed (OSS) sensor electrical connector.
  11. Disconnect the park/neutral position (PNP) sensor electrical connector.
  12. Disconnect the transaxle electrical connector.

  14. Remove the service hall cover.
  15. Remove the torque converter bolts.

  17. Remove the damping block connection nut and bolt.
  18. Remove the rear mounting bracket bolts and rear mounting bracket.

  20. Remove the 3 upper transaxle mounting bracket bolts.

  22. Remove the 3 upper transaxle-to-engine mounting bolts.

  24. Secure the transaxle to a transaxle jack and DW 260-010  (1).

  26. Remove the 7 lower transaxle-to-engine retaining bolts.

  28. Carefully remove the transaxle from the vehicle with the transaxle secured in the DW 260-010  (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1245842  Size: SH
  1. Secure the transaxle to the transaxle jack, then carefully position in the vehicle with the transaxle secured in the DW 260-010  (1).
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the 7 lower transaxle-to-engine retaining bolts.
  4. Tighten

        • Tighten the bolts (1) to 73 N·m (54 lb ft).
        • Tighten the bolts (3) to 31 N·m (23 lb ft).
        • Tighten the bolts (2) to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Install the 3 upper transaxle-to-engine mounting bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the 3 upper transaxle-to-engine mounting bolts to 73 N·m (54 lb ft).

  7. Install the 3 upper transaxle mounting bracket bolts and the bracket.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the 3 upper transaxle mounting bracket bolts to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).

  9. Install the rear mounting bracket bolts and the bracket.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the rear mounting bracket bolts to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).

  11. Install the damping block connection nut and bolt.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the damping block connection nut and bolt to 80 N·m (59 lb ft).

  13. Install the torque converter bolts.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the torque converter bolts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  15. Install the service hall cover.

  17. Connect the transaxle electrical connector.
  18. Connect the PNP sensor electrical connector.
  19. Connect the OSS sensor electrical connector.
  20. Connect the ISS sensor electrical connector.

  21. Object Number: 1289833  Size: SH
  22. Remove the J 28467-B  (1).
  23. Connect the shift control cable into the transaxle. Refer to Floor Shift Control Cable Replacement .

  24. Object Number: 1245852  Size: SH
  25. Connect the fluid cooler inlet and outlet hose into the transaxle.
  26. Install the left and right drive axle assemblies. Refer to Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft Replacement .
  27. Install the battery and battery tray.
  28. Fill the transaxle with fluid. Refer to Transmission Fluid Draining .
  29. Measure the fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Level Inspection .
