High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement Four Door

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Open the rear deck lid.
3. Remove the bolts and the center high-mounted stop lamp (CHMSL).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.




1. Install the CHMSL with the bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the CHMSL mounting bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

2. Connect the negative battery cable.

High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement Wagon

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Open the liftgate.
3. Remove the liftgate trim cover screws.
4. Remove the liftgate trim cover.
5. Remove the liftgate lower garnish molding. Refer to Liftgate Lower Garnish Molding Replacement .



6. Disconnect the electrical connector.
7. Remove the rear wiper motor. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement .
8. Remove the license plate lamps bracket bolts and the nuts.
9. Remove the license plate lamps bracket.
10. Remove the station wagon door latch rod.



11. Remove the center high mounted stop lamp nuts.
12. Remove the center high mounted stop lamp.

1. Install the center high mounted stop lamp.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

2. Install the center high mounted stop lamp nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the center high mounted stop lamp nuts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).




3. Install the license plate lamps bracket.
4. Install the license plate lamps bracket bolts and nuts.
5. Install the station wagon latch rod.
6. Install the rear wiper motor. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement .
7. Connect the electrical connector.



8. Install the liftgate lower garnish molding. Refer to Liftgate Lower Garnish Molding Replacement .
9. Install the liftgate trim cover.
10. Install the liftgate trim cover screws.
11. Connect the negative battery cable.

High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement Hatchback

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the hatchback door upper garnish molding.
3. Remove the bolts and the center high-mounted stop lamp (CHMSL).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.




1. Install the CHMSL with the bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the CHMSL mounting bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

2. Install the hatchback door upper garnish molding.
3. Connect the negative battery cable.
