Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the left front wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the left splash shield. Refer to Wheelhouse Splash Shield Replacement.
  4. Remove the front engine mount.
  5. Remove the transaxle oil cooler lines and seals from the transaxle. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Seal Replacement.

  6. Object Number: 1418667  Size: SH
  7. Remove the 9  TORX bolts (2) from the control valve body cover (1).
  8. Note: Do not pry with a tool on the transaxle control valve body cover, case or sealing surfaces.

  9. Remove control valve body cover.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 749819  Size: SH
  1. Clean any gasket material from the control valve body cover and inspect the gasket mounting surface.
  2. Install a 3 mm (0.125 in) bead of RTV sealer GM P/N 89020326 (Canadian P/N 89021188) onto the control valve body cover.

  3. Object Number: 1418667  Size: SH
  4. Install the control valve body cover (1) onto the transaxle case.
  5. Note: Use LOCTITE™ 242 thread sealer on ALL bolt threads.

  6. Install the control valve body cover bolts (2) hand tight.
  7. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 749335  Size: SH
  8. Install the control valve body cover bolts in the sequence shown and tighten to 13 N·m (115 lb in).
  9. Install the transaxle oil cooler lines and seals to the transaxle. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Seal Replacement.
  10. Install the front engine mount.
  11. Install the left splash shield. Refer to Wheelhouse Splash Shield Replacement.
  12. Install the left front wheel and the tire assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Check the transaxle fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check.
