Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement Gasoline Engine

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1290069  Size: SH
  1. Siphon the power steering fluid from the fluid reservoir.
  2. Caution: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Loosen the hose clamps and remove both hoses from the fluid reservoir.
  4. Remove the fluid reservoir nuts.
  5. Remove the reservoir from the reservoir bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1290069  Size: SH
  1. Install the power steering fluid reservoir to the reservoir bracket.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the reservoir nuts and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
  4. Caution: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Install the hoses and secure the hose clamps to the reservoir.
  6. Caution: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Caution in the Preface section.

  7. Fill the reservoir with power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid.
  8. Caution: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Caution in the Preface section.

  9. Bleed the system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
  10. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. If there are leaks, correct the cause of the leaks. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Leaks.

Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement Diesel Engine

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1874321  Size: SH
  1. Siphon the power steering fluid from the fluid reservoir.
  2. Caution: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Loosen the hose clamps (3,5) and remove the hoses (4,6) from the reservoir.
  4. Remove the reservoir nuts (1,2).
  5. Remove the reservoir from the reservoir bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering fluid reservoir to the reservoir bracket.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the reservoir nuts (1,2) and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
  4. Caution: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Install the hoses (4,6) and secure the hose clamps (3,5) to the reservoir.
  6. Caution: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Caution in the Preface section.

  7. Fill the reservoir with power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid.
  8. Caution: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Caution in the Preface section.

  9. Bleed the system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
  10. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. If there are leaks, correct the cause of the leaks. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Leaks.
