Removal Procedure

    Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1308297  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  3. Remove the heater/air distributor case assembly. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement.
  4. Remove A/C expansion valve. Refer to Air Conditioning Evaporator Thermal Expansion Valve Replacement.
  5. Remove the wiring harness and electrical connectors from the heater/air distributor case assembly.
  6. Remove the screws that connect the heater core housing and the evaporator housing.

  8. Remove the evaporator core cover screws from the evaporator core housing.
  9. Remove the evaporator core.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1308340  Size: SH
  1. Install the evaporator core into the case.
  2. Install the screws on the evaporator core housing and tighten to 1.2 N·m (11 lb in).

  3. Object Number: 1308341  Size: SH
  4. Install the screws that connect the heater core housing and the evaporator housing and tighten to 1.2 N·m (11 lb in)..
  5. Connect the wiring harness and the electrical connectors to the heater/air distributor case assembly.
  6. Install A/C expansion valve. Refer to Air Conditioning Evaporator Thermal Expansion Valve Replacement.
  7. Install the heater/air distributor case assembly. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement.
  8. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
