Circuit Description

TPMS Receiver Module receives the vehicle speed signal from the transmission control module (TCM) and also receives the information of the tire inflation pressure from the transmitters and the transmitter’s condition. With these information, the TPMS decides that the warning lamp indication is needed or not.

DTC Descriptor

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:

DTC C0550 Input Failure Of Vehicle Speed

Conditions for Running the DTC

Vehicle speed is above 32 km/h (20 mph).

Conditions for Setting the DTC

    • TCM inoperative
    • Wiring harness damage between TPMS receiver module and TCM

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

TPMS warning lamp blinks for 75 seconds.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The conditions that set the DTC are no longer present, the DTC can be cleared by scan tool.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Check the speed signal sending for the TCM.
  2. Check the wiring harness between the terminal 2 of TPMS Receiver Module and the terminal B8 of TCM or terminal B of vehicle speed sensor (VSS).

Is there any wiring harness damage (open or ground) or poor connection of connector?

Go to Step 3

Repair the wiring harness.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 5

  1. Replace the TPMS Receiver Module.
  2. Perform the TPS ID Registration procedure.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 5

  1. Clear the DTCs with the scan tool.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the condition for running and setting the DTC.

Does the DTC reset?

Go to Step 2
