Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  4. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  5. Remove the right side lower engine splash shield.

  7. Remove the following components from the vehicle:
  8. • The 6 water pump bolts (1, 2)
    • The water pump
  9. Remove the O-ring from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install a new O-ring to the vehicle.
  2. Install the water pump to the vehicle.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Use 6 bolts (1, 2) in order to secure the water pump.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the water pump bolts to 11 N·m (8 lb ft).

  6. Install the right side lower engine splash shield.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.

  10. Object Number: 244267  Size: SH
  11. Use approved engine coolant in order to fill the radiator. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  12. Start the engine.
  13. Inspect the system for leaks.
