A pressure vent cap is used on the radiator.

The cap includes the following valves:

    • A pressure relief valve
    • A vacuum relief valve

The pressure valve is secured against its seat by a spring of predetermined strength. The spring relives the pressure (2) when the pressure rises above 90 kPa (13 psi). This action protects the cooling system.

The vacuum valve is secured against its seat by a light spring. The spring allows the valve to open. An open vacuum valve (1) relieves the vacuum that is created in the cooling system.

A rubber hose connects the radiator to a transparent coolant reservoir.

The pressure relief valve radiator cap allows the coolant to travel between the radiator and the coolant reservoir.
