Was the Cooling Fan System Check performed?

  1. Ensure that the engine coolant temperature is below 93°C (199°F)
  2. Remove the fan no. 1 relay from fuse and relay block 1.
  3. Start the engine.

Does the fan motor run?

--

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 4

Repair the short to voltage in the BLK/RED wire between the fan motor terminal 2 and fuse relay block 1.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to the Cooling Fan System Check

Test for an open in the BLU/BLK wire between the fan no. 1 relay in fuse and relay block 1 and fuse and relay block 2.

Is an open present?

--

Go to Step 8

Test for an open in the LT GRN wire between fuse and relay block 2 and the fan control switch.

Is an open present?

--

Go to Step 8

Test the fan control switch. The fan control switch should be closed below 83°C (181°F) and open above 93°C (199°F).

Is the fan control switch operating properly?

Go to Step 7

Replace the fan no. 1 relay. Refer to Cooling Fan Relay Replacement .

Repair the open/short. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
