Did you perform the Starting System Check?

Go to Step 2

Measure the voltage across the battery terminals while cranking the engine.

Is the voltage 9.6 volts or more?

Go to Step 3

Go to Battery Load Test

Measure the voltage between the negative (-) battery terminal and the engine block while cranking the engine.

Is the voltage 0-0.5 volts?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Replace the negative (-) battery cable. Refer to Battery Cable Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Starting System Check

Measure the voltage between the positive (+) battery terminal and the starter solenoid terminal B while cranking the engine.

Is the voltage 0-0.5 volts?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

Repair or replace the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement and Starter Motor Overhaul .

Is the repair complete?

Go to the Starting System Check

Replace the positive (+) battery cable. Refer to Battery Cable Replacement .
