Did you perform the Charging System Check?

Go to Step 2

Go to Charging System Check

1. Disconnect the generator connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
3. Connect a fused jumper between the generator connector terminal 1 and ground.

Does the charge indicator light?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 3

1. Inspect the charge indicator bulb. Replace as necessary.
2. Connect a fused jumper between the instrument cluster connector 4 terminal 13 and ground.

Does the charge indicator light?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Test for battery voltage at the instrument cluster connector 4 terminal 10.

Is battery voltage present?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 6

Repair the open in the YEL wire between the instrument cluster and the generator (including SP258). Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Charging System Check

Test for an open in BLK/ORN wire between junction block 2 and the instrument cluster.

Is an open present?

Go to Step 13

Go to Step 12

1. Inspect the instrument cluster printed circuit for cracks or bad connections.
2. Repair or replace as necessary.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Charging System Check

With the ignition switch ON test for battery voltage at the generator connector terminal 2.

Is battery voltage present?

Go to Step 15

Go to Step 9

With the ignition switch ON, test for battery voltage at the multifunction alarm module connector 2 terminal 9.

Is battery voltage present?

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 10

1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
2. Remove the multifunction alarm module.
3. With the ignition switch ON, test for battery voltage at terminal 9 of junction block 2.

Is battery voltage present?

Go to Step 14

Go to Step 12

Repair the open in the RED/BLU wire between the multifunction alarm module and the generator (including junction block 3).

Is the repair complete?

Go to Charging System Check

Replace junction block 2.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Charging System Check

Repair the open. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Charging System Check

Replace the multifunction alarm module. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Charging System Check

Repair or replace the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement and Generator Overhaul .
