Removal Procedure

The ignition coil and the ignition control module are 1 unit and are serviceable by replacement only.

  1. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the ignition coils.

  2. Object Number: 238958  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the two connectors from the ignition coils.
  4. Remove the four bolts (2) from the cylinder head.
  5. Remove the two ignition coils (1) from the cylinder head.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 238958  Size: SH
  1. Install the two ignition coils to the cylinder head.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Secure the ignition coils using the four bolts (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (78 in lb).

  5. Connect the two connectors to the correct ignition coils.

  7. Connect the spark plug wires to the correct ignition coils.
