Disassembly Procedure

    Object Number: 240894 Size: SH
  1. Remove the boots (1).
  2. Remove the pistons (2).
  3. Remove the cup seals (3).
  4. Remove the spring (5).
  5. Remove the bleeder valve.
  6. Clean the wheel cylinder body (4) in clean brake fluid.
  7. Dry the wheel cylinder body using filtered, unlubricated compressed air.
  8. Inspect the cylinder body, piston, cup seals and spring for the following conditions:
    9. • Rust
    • Deterioration
    • Wear
    • Pitting
    • Corrosion
  9. Replace the components as necessary. Replace all components included in repair kits.

Assembly Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the bleeder valve.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the bleeder valve to 8.5 N·m (75 lb in).

  2. Install the spring (5) to the wheel cylinder body (4).
  3. Install the cup seals (3). Ensure care that the lip does not turn under.
  4. Install the pistons (2).
  5. Install the boots (1) over the end of the wheel cylinder body (4). Ensure that the lip of the boot sits securely in the groove on the wheel cylinder body.
