Removal Procedure
- Remove the lever. Refer to
Park Brake Lever Assembly Replacement
.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies from the vehicle. Refer
to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires
and Wheels.
- Remove the brake shoes. Refer to
Brake Shoe Replacement
in Drum Brakes.
- Remove the following components from the backing plate:
- Remove the following components:
• | The catalytic converter heat shields |
- Remove the following components from the equalizer:
- Remove the following components from the equalizer:
- Remove the equalizer cable.
Installation Procedure
- Install the equalizer cable.
- Install one retainer, two clamps and the right cable to the equalizer
(yellow ID tape). Mount the cable to the left side of the equalizer.
Install the following components:
• | The right cable to the equalizer (yellow ID tape) |
• | Mount the cable to the left side of the equalizer. |
- Install one retainer, two clamps and left cable to the equalizer
(cable cross).
Install the following components:
• | The left cable from the equalizer (cable cross) |
- Install the following components:
• | The catalytic converter heat shield |
- Install the cables to the backing plate. Secure the cables using
two bolts (each side).
- Install the brake shoes. Refer to
Brake Shoe Replacement
in Drum Brakes.
- Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies to the vehicle. Refer
to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the lever. Refer to
Park Brake Lever Assembly Replacement
.
