Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2. Remove the center console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

    3. Object Number: 242932 Size: SH
  3. Remove the following from the shift indicator:
    4. • The shift indicator bulb
    • The 4 screws
    • The shift indicator (1)
  4. Reposition the shift indicator to gain access to the shift lock control module.

    5. Object Number: 242930 Size: SH
  5. Remove the shift lock solenoid and the shift lock switch electrical connectors (2,3) from shift lock solenoid and shift lock switch assembly (1).

    6. Object Number: 242931 Size: SH
  6. Remove the shift lock control module electrical connector (2) from the shift lock control module (1).
  7. Remove the shift lock control module from the manual selector.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 242931 Size: SH
  1. Install the shift lock control module (1) to the manual selector.
  2. Install the shift lock control module to the electrical connector (2) to the shift lock control module (1).

    3. Object Number: 242930 Size: SH
  3. Install the shift lock solenoid and the shift lock switch assembly electrical connectors (2,3) to the shift lock solenoid.

    4. Important: Upon the completion of the shift lock control module installation, perform the following steps to ensure proper operation:

       • Temporarily install the negative (-) battery cable.
       • When the ignition switch is turned to LOCK, the solenoid is NOT energized.
       • When the ignition switch is turned to ON, and the brake pedal is depressed, the solenoid is energized.
       • Remove the negative (-) battery cable.

  4. Install the shift lock solenoid and the shift lock switch assembly electrical connectors to the shift lock switch assembly.
  5. Reposition the shift indicator to its original position.
  6. Install the 4 screws to the shift indicator.

  7. Install the shift indicator bulb into the shift indicator (2).
  8. Install the center console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  9. Install the negative (-) battery cable.
