Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 241217 Size: SH
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .
  2. Remove the front door sill panel. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement .
  3. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Lower Center Pillar Trim Panel Replacement Procedure.
  4. Remove the front seat belt retractor. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front .
  5. Remove the electrical connector.
  6. Remove the fasteners (2).
  7. Remove the side impact sensor (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 241217 Size: SH
  1. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System .
  2. Install the side impact sensor (1).

    3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the fasteners (2).

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 20 N·m (14 lb ft).

  4. Install the electrical connector.
  5. Install the front seat belt retractor. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front .
  6. Install the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Lower Center Pillar Trim Panel Installation Procedure.
  7. Install the front door sill panel. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement .
