Check the tape player for an obstruction through the tape door.

Does an obstruction exist?

Go to Step 4

1. Remove the obstruction. Care should be taken to avoid damaging the tape player.
2. Inspect and clean the tape head and all moving parts.
3. Use the cleaning cassette.
4. Use the diagnostic tape from the J 39916-A .

Does the test tape operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Replace the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

The fault is with the cassette tape. Replace the faulty cassette.
