Did you perform the Instrument Cluster System Check?

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement .
  2. Using a J 39200 measure the resistance from the screw head IG+ to the screw head FU.

Is the measured resistance within the specified limits?

104-114 ohms

Go to Step 3

Using a J 39200 measure the resistance from the screw head IG+ to the screw head SE.

Is the measured resistance within the specified limits?

221-231 ohms

Go to Step 4

Using a J 39200 measure the resistance from the screw head SE to the screw head FU.

Is the measured resistance within the specified limits?

114-124 ohms

Replace the fuel gauge. Refer to Fuel Gage Replacement .

Inspect the instrument cluster printed circuit for damage or corrosion.

Does the printed circuit have damage or corrosion?

Replace the Printed circuit. Refer to Printed Instrument Cluster Circuit Replacement .

Inspect the YEL/RED wire between the instrument cluster C3 and the fuel sender for damage or corrosion.

Is the wire damaged?

Inspect the BRN wire between the G202 and the fuel sender assembly for damage or corrosion.

Is the wire damaged?

Repair the wire. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
